Tor those out in the Typosphere who use word press I will not be commenting any longer. Ever since I have a Word Press sign on I have problems commenting on your blogs and only waste time.
I can sign onto WP only to be told I cannot comment or my comment is a duplicate. I tried killing my WP account to no avail.
Sorry for having to post this rant, but I program and I HATE software that does not work.
I'll miss your comments. You don't have to be logged into WordPress to leave one, at least on my WordPress blog. You can just enter a name and your email address.
ReplyDeleteBloody hell!

some blogs require a log in and others do not. At one time I was going to use WordPress until one of the radio clubs I belong to had problems. they went the route of a free web site.
ReplyDeleteI like to comment so the blogger of the blog I read knows at least there is someone out there reading their blog. Page counters don't really tell the entire story considering all the spambots out there searching and hitting pages. All software has its nuances and quirks. None is perfect. I tire of getting erroneous errors from WP that site non existent problems and then don't let me go any farther. Once I eliminate my WP account (since I never moved my blog to there)things may get back to normal.
To comment Blogger I usually have to log in via dark mode browsing, even though I have a Blogger account.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that some WordPress blogs are now being invaded by ugly ads that dribble down from the top of the page. Meanwhile, on Blogger I can comment only when using Firefox, not Safari. It all adds up to the fact that blogs are a thing of the aughts that is no longer a priority for the companies that host them. When will the platforms simply disappear?
ReplyDeleteI ran into a similar issue this past week where I left a comment (on Word Press) that when posted had a drug company add attached to it after it posted.
DeleteThat's a shame appreciated your feedback over the years. Ive had problems in reverse trying to comment on Blogger without a Google/Blogger account (which they've now forced me into having, Draconian style) ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not a problem with blogger, I love getting your comments Bill ✨
ReplyDeleteI’ve missed leaving many a comment due to the Safari/iOS issues with Blogger. Word Press blogs seem to be easier for me to comment. Here I’m using Chrome for iOS.
ReplyDeleteBrowsers & OSs do seem to still be problematic on certain platforms. It should not be that way this far into the age of cyperspace. I do know that sometimes when I port something from an open source platform or other non Windoze OS there can be problems with Windoze. Enough testing and revising though before release generally will solve the cross platform issues. I've been fighting WordPress issues for about 2 or 3 years. In a way I'm just too busy and lazy to look into some of what could be fixes.
ReplyDeleteAgain I find myself happy that I pay for my server and install the software I want on the site. Standalone Wordpress on a LAMP stack doesn't seem to have the issues that free Blogger and Wordpress accounts are plagued with.
ReplyDeleteBill, I will miss hearing your take on things. Could be cross-site tracking prevention or cookie-related. I've had occasional browser-related issues while commenting on Blogger sites which force me to switch browsers.
