21 Questions Part 3
This is stillnot a real Olympia. Olympia typewriters do not sound tinny when typing or have the crappy feel of this Japanese machine. This one may end up on Ebay or Etsy before long. I really want an SG-3, but have no room for one. Maybe an SM-9.
Interesting answers. I feel I'm getting to know everyone who's participating. I gave away my B12. I thought it was an excellent machine but I hated the sound and was ambivalent about the feel.
@ Notagain, I'm sort of the same. I like the features and large, but not overly large carriage. I thought of trying to line the body with heavy felt I have from feeder bowl sound deadening enclosures, and I thought about trying some mechanical tweaks since this is a nice machine in many ways, but I need the room and Nakajima machines do not come close to Brother machines in quality and overall attractiveness.
@ Paperdoll, Good you remember your school typewriter. I think I mostly used an Olympia, but I also remember a Remington. Our electrics (which I did not get to use) were IBM Selectrics. I also have a space problem for an office machine.

ReplyDeleteI have a hankering for the typewriter that I learnt on at school. Don't have room for it and wouldn't be able to lift it probably!! X

Typewriting for physiotherapy - maybe they should be on prescription. Surprised and encouraged you get to type so much.
