I've been meaning to look for some of that shelf liner. Thanks for the review. On the other hand, I have a lot of leather coat left over from my Royal project and thought of lining my lap desk with it.
I really like that shelf liner stuff. I use it with most typewriters (partly as a sort of sound deadener and partly to prevent semi-hardened rubber feet from skating around under heavy typing), and also used to carry a piece of it with me when I'd take the Alphasmart Neo out on the town to keep it from walking away. I've not seen the giant sized version, but I imagine it works great!
I am most definitely going to have to check out Target for some of those shelf liners. They seem perfect for such an application. Also, that Royal Signet is absolutely gorgeous. I love those little typers, but have yet to come across one in the wild. They tend to be on the expensive side on eBay and the like, so I will wait it out until I can get a deal. Aside from being all caps, does it type nicely?
Where did you source your blue ribbon? I love how it matches the typing pad. Peter and I were discussing the high prices colored ribbon is commanding on Etsy - $20 each for blue/green/purple. I'd love some green ribbon... but not for that much!
The blue type looks great!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried typing pads. I've thought about springing for a thick felt pad at some point. I should give the liner material a try.
ReplyDeleteI've read a lot of good things about the Skyliners. They seem to have a cult following.
I find the Skyriter one of the most affordable on-line typewriters in bountiful supply. Locally when they do show up they are much more expensive.
DeleteBeautiful blue ink, and it looks like a very effective pad.

ReplyDeletePretty blue ribbon.
I really like that blue ink. I'm seriously considering making my own multicolor ribbon as my next DIY project.

For in its original condition (as in I have not cleaned it) it is a nice snappy typer.

ReplyDeleteI get the blue ones on Ebay or Etsy when they are less than $20.00 including shipping.
DeleteIf I remember from my last email from Jay Respler several months ago he had colored ribbons, but no blue.
