Just noticed I mis-spelled hand.
Blog post without photos? I thought I'd include a few photos of the canals that flow through the neighborhood. Now es ist zeit Bier und eine Bratwurst oder zwei. Nicht Deutsch, Pennsylvania Dutch (if I remembered how to write in it).
Hi Bill,
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how I relate to you and your post today. It is not raining in DC, is not even that cold for this time of the year. It is beautiful and sunny nevertheless I am just sitting here going through my friends blogs while I listen to some Bossa Nova, unlike you I have given up to practicality and all of my music is in an Ipod and in a hard drive. So thanks for the post. I will check with you later. ;)
I think I have the same problem right now... I've written a list of about 20 topics to write entries for my blog, but haven't uploaded a single post for the whole week...
ReplyDeleteWanted to add that I like the crisp typeface of the Facit!
DeleteI don't think you're all that lazy -- it always takes some effort and dedication to produce a typecast!
ReplyDeleteThe things I notice when I read my own posts. I probably confused readers about turntables. I use dual turntables as in 2, a pair. In my post I referred to tone arms. That is one tone arm on one turntable unless of course it is an old 16 inch transcription player. Many radio stations had mounted two on those. One was used for 78 rpm records and the other for modern 33-1/3 and 45 r.p.m. records and later for stereo. All 3 use a different size stylus.
ReplyDeleteI, too, relate to your mood, although fortunately mine has improved over yesterday's. Part of my trouble is that I get distracted by how badly the house needs to be cleaned (but doing little to clean it), or cookies baked, etc., so that I fritter away what time I do have to work on a post and then end up whining about not having enough time.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not a typospherian, I do still listen to vinyl and would love to hear your recipe for cleaning fluid if you want to share it some time.
Looking forward to your upcoming fountain pen posts!
I think there's always a place for quiet introspection. Sharing that is brave. Before Christmas an old friend gave me his typewriter (the Royal KHM) on condition I took three boxes of books, two boxes of 12" vinyl and three smaller boxes of 7" singles - oh and some CDs. Needless to say, I still haven't re-unpacked the (belt drive) deck but I have at least worked my way through the CDs, binned most of the books, kept a few and gave a copule of old movie books to my mum. We just haven't had that elusive combination of prolonged rainy days and free time. One day...
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of getting a phonograph, perhaps sometime in the near future. I do appreciate vinyl, much more soul than an over-crisp, digitized sound.
ReplyDeleteFor a "lazy" post, that was rather long! I have a bad habit of not posting at all when I can't get myself motivated to post what I should, so I admire your approach to telling us about your procrastination; I should do that too next time. It's also fun hearing about the posts you are planning for later; I look forward to reading your thoughts on the Remington Noiseless 7 and to finding out which machine you're planning to sell.... I haveacouple of those myself :(
ReplyDeleteProcrastination also took the best of me in this last days. But I' too lazy to make an effort and try to wake up... I just throw myself into the sofa , turn on the TV a start zapping between channels.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to read your next reviews and specially finding out which typewriter are you planning to sell :)
I originally bought the J4 as a machine to restore and sell, but it is such a nice smooth operating typewriter I want to keep it. I do need to make some room so one or more will need to go (unless I get a house expander).
ReplyDeleteOur "record player" seems to have a ghost inside: it slows downs and speeds up at random. which leads to some interesting sounding music! I miss hearing some of my vinyl tunes. (Love to "robot-y typeface of this post.) ;-)
