The only problem I have is the carriage return lever doesn't advance the platen. I can't seem to figure out what part I'm missing or maybe a spring has gone. I haven't been able to find a photo of the gear box either. Would it be possible to send a close up photo my way? I'd love to have this thing working 100%. Great blog Bill! I actually like my Olympia SF script typewriters, though I've found that the typeface looks a little bit too light with script--don't know if this is just because they need new ribbons.

I covet your SC Classic 12, though!Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09111687758811924709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8558523755501505700.post-25689499510787843772012-04-21T13:48:55.792-04:002012-04-21T13:48:55.792-04:00When this machine hits the work bench I'm goin...When this machine hits the work bench I'm going to give everything a good cleaning and treat the platen to see if that makes all letters print correctly. If this platen stays hard I may send it to Ames before I try bending the slugs. Script always seems so EXPRESSIVE to me.

Thanks for the inadvertent reminder that I need to go "under the hood" of my SCM electric with script to see if the motor drive belt needs replacing. Yes, the Smith-Corona script typefaces are cool.

Is the issue with slightly faint extended characters a common one? Would you bend the typeslugs a bit to correct this?Cameronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11633967390492270136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8558523755501505700.post-69174761465466826022012-04-19T15:43:36.582-04:002012-04-19T15:43:36.582-04:00Very nice typeface!Very nice typeface!MEKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06238234020380937157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8558523755501505700.post-16494550598011162402012-04-19T04:11:43.520-04:002012-04-19T04:11:43.520-04:00Congratulations on your first script typewriter!
