  1. A Smith Corona Classic 12 was my first typer too! Got it via email . . . the lady "packed" it in a thin cardboard giftbox with no other padding. Needless to say it wasn't in great shape!

    1. I like mine. I guess it started me on collecting when I decided to replace it. I do not remember when or where I bought it. I had it at least 10 years before I got the Hermes. Then I could blame my Hermes 3000. The Classic 12 is more functional though. It is very close to an office machine.

  2. GIMP! So there's a book huh? Need to find myself a copy one day. Only thing I use it for atm is resizing. Kinda boring don't you think?

  3. I really need to word up on Gimp. It looks very powerful, but every time I go to try it, it ends up being a shambles - as it doesn't seem to 'flow' like photoshop does. It is probably just about getting used to it, but as I have photoshop at the ready most of the time - the learning curve tends to get cut short when I seek out a more efficient way of doing what I need to do.

    1. I used Photoshop years ago. I started using GIMP and thought it was kind of crude until I got started using it. I have used GIMP or Picasa ever since. For the price (free) I will stay with GIMP. I think GIMP will run on Linux or Widows.

    2. Works on both. I use it at home (ubuntu/debian) and at the office (windows).

    3. Thanks spiderwebz. I never used GIMP on Windows so I could not comment first-hand on it.
