  1. You're right. I'm obsessive about keeping the paper feed released on my machines. Some of the oldies don't have this option -- and their feed rollers have been squashed flat after decades.

    1. I remember my typing teacher drilling specific typing practices into us, but I do not recall this one. When I read this a few weeks ago I went through my collection and released all the rollers thinking they may not be fine and some may not be perfect, but why contribute to the flat spots.
